SGR vs. Stargate(series)

Maps

It's no question that Stargate Resistance is based off the critically-acclaimed Stargate TV and movie series. However, there are several differences between the game and series. One of these main differences being the locations. The SGC (earth map) is obviously directly from the show, however, the other maps on Armarna and Piramess are completely unique and were not shown in any the stargate movies or tv episodes. This is disappointing to many Stargate fans as they are typically familiar with the various locations within the series and it would have been nice to have these locations within the game. This does, however, allow the game to be a bit more adventurous and make up some of it's own technology, like the weather changing device on Piramess.

Classes

The classes in SGR have both similiarities and differences to the series. The SGC's classes are based off of the SG teams from the series. In comparison, to SG-1. The scientist is similar to Sam Carter, the soldier is similar to Jack O'Neill, and the Commando is the only one that seems out of place. On the System Lords side we have the Jaffa, which is the general enemy within the SG-1 television series. The Ask'rak is out of place and has never been seen in any of the movies, or television series. The Gou'ald is your basic Gou'ald that can be found in the SG-1 television series and torments the humans through use of the hand device. All in all, the classes within SGR are suitable to the fans of Stargate, and are balanced and well-placed in order to satisfy the game's players.

Overview

SGR and the Stargate movie and television series' are similar and different in many aspects. For the most part, SGR respects the facts and aspects from the movies and television, but introduces just enough new elements to make the game fresh and interesting. This combination of new and "used" content is the perfect balance to make the game respectable in the eyes of hardcore Stargate fans, and also satisfies the needs of gamers who may not have been into the Stargate series.
