Galactic Domination

Over the period of time since Stargate Resistance has been launched, I had quite frequently encountered discussions about this Galactic Domination system. There were always little tidbits of information here and there, but I could never fully piece it all together into a coherent system, and so I thought a little digging of my own might be prudent.

It was.

I was sent by Gabriel, SGR's Community Assistant, to the dev most knowledgeable on the subject, and managed to get a full explanation from him, satisfactory enough to base my article around; for the sake of him potentially getting spammed by PMs on the forums, I will omit his name. If anyone wishes to dispute or discuss the quoted message, contact me personally, and I will verify the credibility.

Today (March 5th, 2010) I received this message in response to my query:

Hi Steve,

I'll try to explain a little more about the Galactic Domination system.

As I mentioned in my post, there are victory points earned for the winning faction of each match. These victory points are stored on a per planet basis. Once a faction has a certain percent of the total victory points for a planet the server applies some bonuses.

The bonuses are as follows: reduced capture point time, increased energy, increased damage and increased health. The faction that has dominance on a planet always has the increased health bonus. The losing faction gets a different bonus on each planet. Reduced capture point time is applied on Earth, increased energy is applied on Piramess and increased damage is applied on Amarna. There are 5 different levels to each bonus. The health bonus is 6-30 extra health. The energy bonus is 3-20 extra energy. The damage bonus is 10%-30% extra damage. The capture time bonus is 2%-10% less time to capture a capture point.

In the future the bonus numbers might change if they should be changed. As new planets are added to the game new bonuses may also be added. In the future the galactic domination system may also be used to change non-gameplay aspects of the game.

I couldn't have asked for a more clear and concise answer; it doesn't get much more basic than that.

Thanks to Suitch, below I have a perfect example of a graphical representation to how you can see the difference in the domination. The example includes the System Lords at full domination, SGC at full domination, and the two of them at halfpoint.
